Soft, dreamy and beautifully posed, studio newborn sessions focus on those classic portraits of your baby curled up and cozy in wraps, baskets and other carefully styled props. Each setup is thoughtfully coordinated with soft textures and colors to create timeless images that capture every tiny detail of your newest love. Best of all, the studio comes to you — I bring everything needed to create the full studio-style experience right in the comfort of your own home.
STUDIO STYLE NEWBORN SESSIONS
Styled, timeless newborn portraits—all from the comfort of your own home.
Although I call these my Studio Style sessions, there is no need to pack up your newborn and travel to a studio. I bring the studio to you!
I arrive with everything needed to create a beautiful little studio setup inside your home, including backdrops, wraps, props, and other styling pieces. All I need from you is a small open area where I can set up and work comfortably.
CUSTOMIZING YOUR SESSION
Before your session, you'll have the opportunity to choose a few coordinating colors and share any inspiration you may have. From there, I'll create a collection of setups that flow beautifully together while still giving your final gallery plenty of variety.
I am typically able to photograph 3–4 different setups with multiple posing variations, although we may accomplish more or less depending entirely on baby's temperament that day.
Every newborn is different, and I never force a pose or setup that baby isn't comfortable with.
HOW LONG WILL WE BE TOGETHER?
Studio Style Newborn Sessions typically last around 2 hours.
Newborn sessions move at baby's pace. During our time together, we may stop several times to:
• Settle and soothe baby
• Change wraps, outfits, or setups
• Carefully transition between poses
• Change diapers
• Feed or burp if needed
• Give baby a little cuddle break
These little pauses are completely normal and are already accounted for within your session time.
If additional photography time is needed beyond your scheduled session, additional time may be added for $75 per hour, when scheduling allows.
THE BEST TIME FOR STUDIO STYLE PHOTOS
I recommend scheduling Studio Style Newborn Sessions when baby is approximately 2–4 weeks old.
During these early weeks, babies are often sleepier, more easily settled, and more comfortable curling into those sweet newborn poses.
I also prefer scheduling newborn sessions in the morning, when babies tend to be calmer and more settled.
Of course, every baby is different! Your little one runs the show, and we will always work with what they are comfortable giving us.
FAMILY & SIBLING PHOTOS
Want to get in the frame too? You absolutely can.
Family and sibling portraits may be added to a Studio Style Newborn Session for an additional $100.
Please allow approximately 30 additional minutes for family photographs.
These are typically photographed simply and naturally against a blank or neutral wall in your home, keeping all of the attention on your growing family.
For family photos, I recommend choosing simple, coordinating outfits in soft or neutral colors. creams, whites, beige, warm earth tones, muted colors, and subtle textures photograph beautifully. Try to avoid large logos, neon colors, or very busy patterns.
CREATING A CALM ENVIRONMENT
A peaceful environment can make a huge difference during a newborn session.
If siblings will be home during the session, please try to keep the environment as calm and quiet as possible while baby's individual portraits are being photographed.
A white-noise machine or sound machine can also be incredibly helpful.
It may also help to turn the temperature in the home up slightly before I arrive. Newborns are used to being warm and cozy, and keeping the room comfortable can help baby stay settled while being unwrapped or changed between setups.
Adults may be a little warm—but baby will be nice and cozy!
BEFORE I ARRIVE
One of the best things you can do to prepare is give baby a nice, full feeding shortly before my arrival.
A full belly often means a happier, sleepier newborn and allows us to spend more of your scheduled session photographing rather than stopping immediately for a feeding.
Please have extra diapers, wipes, burp cloths, bottles/formula if applicable, and anything else baby regularly needs nearby.
If your baby takes a pacifier, please have that available as well—even if they don't use it often. It can sometimes be incredibly helpful for soothing baby briefly while transitioning between poses.
And don't worry if we still need to stop for a feeding. Babies don't follow schedules, and that's completely okay!
A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT NEWBORNS
Please don't worry if your baby cries, needs to eat again, has an accident on a blanket, refuses a certain pose, or simply needs extra snuggles.
That is newborn life.
Your baby isn't expected to "perform" for their session.
Newborn photography requires patience, and baby's comfort and safety will always come before getting a particular photograph. We will follow their cues and create beautiful images from what your baby is comfortable giving us that day.
Some babies sleep through nearly everything. Others want to know exactly what we're doing every second.
Both are completely normal.
