LIFESTYLE NEWBORN SESSIONS

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions are perfect for families who want photographs that feel less posed and more like a beautiful glimpse into this season of life.

These sessions have a natural, documentary-inspired feel and focus on connection rather than elaborate setups or traditional newborn posing.

Think cuddling together on your bed, rocking baby in the nursery, tiny fingers wrapped around yours, siblings peeking into the crib, or your whole family curled together on the couch.

The goal is to capture what these early days feel like.

WHEN SHOULD WE SCHEDULE?

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions can typically be photographed anytime between 2–6 weeks old.

Because we aren't relying as heavily on baby's ability to stay asleep for traditional newborn poses, there is a little more flexibility with baby's age.

I still recommend scheduling these sessions in the morning whenever possible, when babies are often calmer and we usually have beautiful natural light inside the home.

WHERE WILL WE TAKE PHOTOS?

Your home becomes the backdrop for your family's story.

Some of my favorite spaces include:

• The primary bedroom
• Baby's nursery
• The living room or family room
• A cozy couch or chair
• Beautiful window light
• Any meaningful little corner of your home

We don't need your entire house to be picture perfect! Usually, just a few thoughtfully prepared areas are all we need.

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions typically last around 1 hour, depending on baby's temperament and the natural flow of the session.

PREPARING YOUR HOME

Before I arrive, take a few minutes to tidy and declutter the spaces you'd like us to photograph in.

You don't need to completely redecorate or make your home look like it belongs in a magazine. The goal is simply to remove anything that may distract from your family in the final images.

I recommend putting away things like:

• Phone chargers and visible cords
• Water bottles and cups
• Tissue boxes
• Remotes
• Diaper packaging
• Clutter from nightstands
• Items on countertops or tables that you don't want photographed

Opening curtains and blinds before I arrive is also helpful so we can see which rooms have the prettiest natural light.

And don't stress if we decide to move something once I arrive! Sometimes moving a lamp, chair, bassinet, or small table just a few feet can completely transform a photograph.

BEFORE I ARRIVE

One of the best things you can do to prepare is give baby a nice, full feeding shortly before my arrival.

A full belly often means a happier, sleepier newborn and allows us to spend more of your scheduled session photographing rather than stopping immediately for a feeding.

Please have extra diapers, wipes, burp cloths, bottles/formula if applicable, and anything else baby regularly needs nearby.

If your baby takes a pacifier, please have that available as well—even if they don't use it often. It can sometimes be incredibly helpful for soothing baby briefly while transitioning between poses.

And don't worry if we still need to stop for a feeding. Babies don't follow schedules, and that's completely okay!

WHAT SHOULD BABY WEAR?

For Lifestyle Sessions, simple is usually best. Neutral or softly colored sleepers, onesies, knotted gowns, swaddles, or even just a diaper with a beautiful blanket can photograph wonderfully.

If you have something sentimental you'd like included—such as a handmade blanket, heirloom, special stuffed animal, or meaningful item—please let me know before your session so we can decide how to incorporate it beautifully and safely.

A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT NEWBORNS

Please don't worry if your baby cries, needs to eat again, has an accident on a blanket, refuses a certain pose, or simply needs extra snuggles.

That is newborn life.

Your baby isn't expected to "perform" for their session.

Newborn photography requires patience, and baby's comfort and safety will always come before getting a particular photograph. We will follow their cues and create beautiful images from what your baby is comfortable giving us that day.

Some babies sleep through nearly everything. Others want to know exactly what we're doing every second.

Both are completely normal.

MOST IMPORTANTLY...

Don't stress about having a perfectly sleeping baby, a perfectly decorated home, or a perfectly behaved sibling.

Come as you are.

These photographs are about remembering how tiny your baby once was, the way they curled into your chest, the way their siblings looked at them, and what your family felt like during this incredibly short season.

Years from now, those are the things you'll want to remember most.

I can't wait to document your newest little love. ♡
